Fernegroni

This is a take on the traditional drink, the Negroni - an Italian cocktail consisting of equal parts gin, sweet (red) vermouth, and Campari. The drink dates to the early 20th century, most likely in Florence, where Count Camillo Negroni asked for some gin in his favorite cocktail, the Americano. Recently, I came across an interesting liqueur I had not yet tried called California Fernet. Its scent is absolutely divine, rich in spices like cloves, cinnamon, and anise, with just a hint of chocolate and some herbal notes. I thought it would compliment gin and decided to add some to a Negroni. The result was a fantastic balanced and pleasingly bitter Negroni with a little extra richness and flavors of fall.
